With the ongoing pressures of the cost of living crisis combined with upcoming benefit changes, it is clear that households with children are suffering particularly.

Pupil Premium (possibly best understood as the number of children on free school meals) rates in the Eastleigh Town area are well above the national average, with some schools nearing 50%.

What is our Families Project?

Working with the 5 primary schools in the Eastleigh Town area and funded by Eastleigh Town Council and Aviva, this project will be offering targeted information and advice to families in these schools to improve their circumstances and create positive change.

Starting in September 2025, this project will work with:

  • Crescent Primary School
  • Norwood Primary School
  • Nightingale Primary School
  • Cherbourg Primary School
  • Stoneham Park Academy

And will offer tailored help with problems such as:

  • Living on a low income
  • Money issues
  • Landlord problems
  • Employment concerns
  • Relationship and family concerns

How will our 2 year pilot be carried out?

As a 2 year pilot, throughout the term of the project we’ll be refining our working model to make it as targeted and effective as possible, hoping to be successful in seeking further funding to roll it out to other areas.

Supported by the charitable, educational, statutory and commercial sectors, this project is a really powerful example of a variety of organisations coming together to support our most vulnerable residents - children.
